I just finished reading CK's weekend race report and I completely understand her bit about agitation. I'm suffering from it right now, obsessively checking the weather report for this weekend. I am scheduled to race the Fairhill mountain bike race on Sunday and can hardly wait. I have not raced my mountain bike since August and I'm chomping at the bit to get dirty. Unfortunately, the weather gods are not cooperating. Some mtb races run rain or shine. It all depends on the sensitivity of the trails to water damage. Fairhill is one of those races that will not go off in the rain.I love my mountain bike. It's the first bike I had custom built. Well, the frame is a stock size, but every single component on it was specifically chosen by me. Everything except the carbon headset spacers, that is. The Colorado Cyclist tossed their house brand on there just to remind me where it came from.
I also love my mountain bike team. I race for Bean's Bikes out of Paoli, PA. I don't get to spend near enough time with these awesome teammates. It doesn't hurt that we are also sponsored by Victory Brewing who graciously donates a keg or two to the team for each race.
Here's to sunny skies and dry trails for Sunday.

I COMPLETELY understand your struggle. I am also a slave to weather.com...and it keeps letting me down. When will I learn? It's like being in a bad relationship that you keep going back to.
So...I just learned of another mtb race option:

Fair Hill isn't all that great anyway.
We need to start bringing beer to the races again - definitely when the weather warms up. I miss the big green beer truck.
BTW - did you make it over that log in the picture?
Anna, you think Fairhill is boring because you have mad skilz. Yes, Fairhill isn't all that great but I have not even been on my mountain bike for 2 months. I would hurt myself on the technical stuff out in WV. When I grow up I may want to ride my road bike like CK, but I definitely want to ride my mountain bike like you!
Sonja, yes I made it over the speed bump... barely. I did however scare the bejesus out of the photog. He was standing too close to the trail IMO and I was heading straight for him.
Let's start a weather.com support group. I'm not checking again until Thurs.
Wow, we should start a weather.com support group. I check it probably 4 times a day. CK, I don't know if I could possibly go cold turkey until Thursday. That would take too much will power.
I know what you mean, Chicken, about the mtb thing. I haven't taken my mtn steed out since October. That's insanity! I will do a dance tonight to hold off the rain for you this weekend. When the mtns call, you must obey.
have fun!
FAIRHILL ROCKS!
So....not to brag, but I traded my compressed day from Friday to today...and had an awesome long ride in the shed. It was awesome.
I'm so jealous. I am off Friday and hope to either get in a good mtn ride or a fun road ride. That is if the weather cooperates. Right now weather.com is calling for PM showers so I should be ok.
