Whitmore Day 1

I don't feel like writing a race report at the moment but know that my reader (Dad) will like the photos. Just a few details.
  • I almost didn't race because it was COLD (22 deg with 26 mph wind gusts). After less than 1 lap of a warm-up I retreated to the car and sat there with the heat blasting until 10 min before the start.
  • The hole shot on Saturday decided the race for the most part. I was in the lead when we came upon the C-Men on the off-camber climb. I chose a good line and got in front of the ensuing cluster f%#$. I looked back and saw everyone off their bikes and blocked. I got a gap and was able to hold it.
  • Thank you Kristin for not chasing me down!
  • Thank you Beth for being in the pit for me and giving me time gaps.
  • Dinner at Wild Thyme was awesome. Thanks Kim and Kathrin for inviting me.
  • I found out later that my teammate Mel won her race down in NC (her first UCI win) and that Michelle had met her sub 4-hour goal in the Rehobeth Beach Marathon. It was a good day for Team CycleLife.
  • Results and a write up of the elite races here.

Those men are hurting, but you look so fresh. I guess they tried to ride that hill after they saw you did. If they could, that is. The chicken rocks Long Island! Go Chicken - Go Cyclelife!

Christina,
It was a pleasure trying (in vain) to close the gap and claw my way closer to you...especially day 2!
Way to go!
